Training Camp Observations

Hey, this is Ryan Harris, answering questions about training camp.

What’s my favorite part of training Camp?  I think all the anticipation and excitement  that goes into beginning the NFL season.

What’s my least favorite part?  Probably the cold of the ice baths - they are pretty painful for the first couple of minutes, and you definitely have to get in there once or twice a week to stay fresh.

My personal goal for this year’s camp is to get better every day, to be a better all around player and improve in consistency.

How live are the camp scrimmages?  Full go, full speed.  That’s how the whole training camp goes.

Pro camp and Notre Dame football camp is very similar in the setup, but  I think the pro camp puts more on the line. You don’t have as much time to develop, especially for guys who may be fighting for job security.  There’s a lot less job security, so that makes things a little more interesting in the NFL.

What sticks in my mind about ND training camp is Billy Palmer.  He was a tight end when I was there, and he used to keep us all mentally sharp and laugh through the drudges of camp.
